Is vs. Melissa vs. Too dated to use?
I like the name Melissa, but is it "too dated" for 2020?
My daughter is due in December, so I still have time to decide on a name. Melissa Noelle is what I plan on naming her since she's a December baby. I don't have a problem with it "being dated", but what do you guys think? Is it too dated in your opinion?

Very beautiful combination. She will be happy to not have an extremely common name.

It's not a personal favorite name of mine, but I don't think it would be too dated.

I think it's fine. I think "dated" to me means before my time, and Melissa was of my time so it doesn't really seem old to me. Maybe I'm just deceiving myself as to my age :) But I do know a 6-yr-old Melissa.

I'm with the minority I think it's dated but it's not a bad name and she likely won't share it with anyone in her class.

Other than Jennifer I think it was one of the most popular girl names of the 1970s. Very dated!
No, I don't think it's dated at all. It's a nice name too.

I think it's dated, but I don't think that's a big deal, and it's not necessarily a bad thing. She almost definitely won't share her name in school, but her name will still be instantly recognizable.

Melissa is ranked at #339 in the US so it is definitely still being used today. I think it is still a very useable and beautiful name.

Melissa is beautiful. People think it's dated because it was popular in the 70's??? So what about all the vintage names that are popular now? It's about popularity at the time, that's all.
Melissa is so feminine, pretty but strong at the same time, use it before it gets hugely popular again, because it will at some point. This lovely name will come back. Think of all the lovely nn 's too, if you are into those.....Liss, Lissa, Missy, Mel, Melis, Millie, Mils, Mel..... the list just goes on.
Melissa Noelle sounds great! I know a Melissa Jane and she is beautiful, kind, strong and full of joy. GL
