Elspeth (Middle name) vs. (First name) Elspeth

I absolutely love the name Elspeth with the possible nickname Elsie, but I've been told it is too uncommon to use. I think it sound ethereal, and I would love to use it for my daughter. At the same time, I don't want her to be made fun of or hate her name. So should I use it as her middle name? I need suggestions as well because I haven't found a name I love as much as Elspeth.

I don't think it is to uncommon to use. It is an actual name. So that a plus.

Elspeth is certainly unique but not unheard of. Nickname Elsie is perfect and would I think prevent any teasing. She can use Elspeth when she's older if she likes.

Elspeth as a first name gmv. Adore it. Magical. Nn Elsie makes it very "normal" (if that's a good thing.)

I prefer Elsbeth, but I love Elspeth as well! It very much works. But if you are really worried about it, I would go for a more common middle name just in case.

Elspeth as a first name would be great. "Elsie" will fit right in when she wants to, and "Elspeth" will shine in her own spotlight when she wants to. Versatile- it's a win.

I think Elspeth is a beautiful first name! Another nickname suggestion if you're looking for one is Elspie. Its one of my favourite names:)
