If Claire, the 55th most common girl name in America, is too common and Clara, the 95th most popular girl name in America, is too weird, then check the name between those two in popularity. Search "baby names" and "social security administration" to find the list of the top hundred baby names for 2019.

I have a couple things I want to say about this dilemma. First of all, I completely understand why you have this dilemma in the first place, because I too am in love with both of these names. I love the name Clara because the girl in the ballet The Nutcracker is called Clara and I also just love how the sound of the Cl sounds when you say Clara or Claire. I also like the spelling Clare too. My puppy's name is Chloe (hence the Cl sound that I love) The second thing I want to point out is when choosing what name you want to go with take into consideration what her middle name will be and then decide which one sounds better with the middle name. For instance Claire Emma sounds good, but not Clara Emma. If all else fails and both names sound good with her middle name then my suggestion is to officially name her Clara and then call her Clara or Claire whenever you want to. Claire can be a nickname for Clara. Hope this helps you decide.
