I love the name, I think she would just have to correct people constantly with the ie spelling because people will naturally spell it 'Emily'.

The Emilie I know has French roots, so I just think of it as the French version of Emily. Both are fine, using "ie" instead of "y" isn't that big of a spelling adjustment and is nothing compared to names like Caitlin/Kaitlyn/Katelynn/etc.

As someone with a name with a pretty widely accepted standard spelling, Rosie, you would be surprised by how many people try to spell it Rosy or Rosey. I wouldn't worry about spelling, there will always be someone out there who will spell it wrong, no matter how straight-forward you think the name is.

I think it's pretty either way you spell it. Emily is more common and Emilie is less so. There are advantages to both so you should go with what you love.
