Helena vs. Elena

I would personally pronounce Elena Elaine-uh and pronounce Helena Hell-en-uh. How would you pronounce these names? Who chi do you like best as well? I am open to different pronunciations of Helena because I know there is a lot.

I think both of these are great examples of names that have multiple (acceptable) pronunciations. If you go with one of them, you are going to have to correct people so you might want to consider that when you make the final decision? I personally do not see it as an issue (correcting someone once is not a deal breaker for me) but you might. Good luck!

Helena, I would pronounce like you said or he-LAY-nuh.
Elena, both e sounds are short, ay-LAY-nah. That's what drives me crazy about that name.

Elena to me is always uh-LAY-nuh, but i know some people pronounce it ELL-uh-nuh and that's fine.

My fave pronounciation of Helena is "huh-LAY-nuh" followed by "huh-LEE-nuh" and the "HELL-uh-nuh" but all are accepted pronounciations.
If you're really upset at the thought of correcting people often, then Elena is probably your best bet.

I like both names with perhaps a slight preference to Elena, but Helena is more unique which is really nice
