Sam vs. First vs. Name

Hi! We're not finding out what we are having but have a girl name picked out already. I like the name Sam for a boy, but not Samuel. Do you think just using Sam for a first name is fine? Also need some middle name ideas. Thanks!

Most would assume that Sam is a nickname.
What about Samson?

Yes, just Sam is nice. I like it better than Samuel too. But you may run into people assuming he's named Samuel. Also, I don't know if name meanings are important to you. I'm not sure if just Sam has a separate meaning from Samuel. If you're a LOTR fan, you could do Samwise! (He's my favorite character, loyal & determined.)

I always prefer a more formal name. Samson is an option.

I think it's fine to use Sam as the full name. I do like Samuel a lot, but Sam works.
