Abigail vs. into vs. Boys name

Any ideas how to honor an Abigail with a boy's name? His first name will be a pretty classic and common name so we don't mind if the middle one gets a bit crazy, it's just important to us to incorporate her in his middle. Her maiden name is boring so I'd rather not choose that..Thank you!

Maybe use the name Gail or Gale for your son's middle name? It's the last syllable of Abigail. Or maybe have blank Abbey last name?

I do like Abbey and I think it looks unisex enough (at least looks more unisex than Abby to me) but not sure how doable it is...I'll discuss it with the hubby! Thank you!

Abner is handsome but is such a known name by itself that we'd rather not choose it..Thank you!

The name Abishai was just brought to my attention the other day. I looked up the meaning and it's similar to Abigail's. (both have father's gift/joy) It's a biblical name, as is Abigail. Other similar options are Abijah, Abiathar, and Abednego.
