Kitt on a girl seems fine since it's so close to Kitty. But I agree it would work better as a nn.

If you aren't into Catherine / Katharine / Kathryn then variants Catriona / Katrina, Kate, Cathleen / Kathleen, etc. are still possible. Or maybe Kirsten ("KEER-sten"), nn Kitt? Good luck! :0)

P.S. A full name related to lions / cats / tigers, etc. could also work: Leonie ("LEE-uh-nee") / Léonie ("LAY-uh-nee") / Léontine ("LAY-un-teen") / Leona, Ariel, Leandra, etc.

American Girl "Kit" Kitredge puts it in the girl aisle, though I also prefer it as a nickname
