Stanley for a girl vs. Cute or vs. Not?

I saw a show on TV with a family where all the children had names beginning with the letter S. One of the little girl’s names was Stanley. I’m considering using it for my little girl due this spring. What do you all think? Would this name give my daughter a hard time or does it sound strong but different?

I have nothing against uni-sex names, I like a lot of them, but ugh, please not Stanley! There’s nothing cute about it, sorry.

What show was this? Stanley does kind of sound girly to me with the ley ending. I think it could work with the right middle name.

What about Ansley? Stanley is a great boy name but I would be worried a girl would get made fun of with the name Stanley.

Stanley reminds me of an old mans name. I think you could find a much prettier name for a girl. What about Lindsey, if you lie unisex names?

I like unixex names and boy names for girls. In fact i get riduculed on this site for it alot but....I think Stanley is just not that cute for a boy or a girl. There are lots of other boy or unisex names that lend better for a girl than Stanley.

Stanley is not a girl name nor is it a name for this generation old men are named this... sorry
but if u did have ur heart set on it i would spell is Stanleigh more girly

Unless its your hubby/dads/granpas name and you wanna do a tribute thing its the worst name ever for a girl. I’d rather you use neveah than that and neveahs horrible!

A name is subjective and no one has the rift to tell you your chosen name is wrong/horrible/an old mans name or anything else. It is not as simple as a binary answer, try to think of her at school, work on holiday and what you and her friends will call her. My friend Carol just changed her name legally as she hated it so much, so there is no real issue if it is a problem. We offered our children (all girls, Maxine (max), erika (erik) and Robyn) the chance to change their names for their 21st birthday. None of them did.

Stanley is Bette Davis's name in 1942 movie "In This Our Life", her sister's (Olivia De Havilland) n american is Roy.I named y female cat Stanley in homage to Bette Davis.

No, I personally don't like it because I'm FtM and my preferred name is Stanley. I'm a bit biased because of that though.
