Hermione vs. As a vs. Middle name?

My husband absolutely LOVES Harry Potter and wants to use the name Hermione for our daughter, I told him not as a first name but as a middle name I would consider it. What do you guys think? Is it too much? I actually don't mind the name I just worry that since everyone will know she was named after Hermione Granger she will get made fun of :( need honest opinions here! Thanks.

Well, first of all, not too many people in life will even know her middle name. Sure, it will be on her birth announcement but her school classmates aren't going to know it unless they ask. And truthfully, she IS being named after a Harry Potter character, so what does it matter if people think that? It doesn't seem like a thing to be made fun of for. I have a friend who named her daughter Rey and yeah she got Star Wars comments but didn't seem to mind. She thought the association was a good thing. I haven't followed the whole Harry Potter series but as far as I know Hermione is good, right? Like if she were someone evil I wouldn't use the name. But from my very cursory knowledge of Harry Potter I think the association would be good rather than bad. Oh, and I had friends in college (not related to each other) named Galadriel and Arwen, both after characters in Lord of the Rings. And when people asked them about their names, they were like, yeah my parents were big LOTR fans. I imagine if anyone were to ask your daughter her middle name and she said Hermione, you'd get either, that's cool, or your parents must have loved Harry Potter, neither of which I see as bad reactions or getting made fun of. Sorry for the long response. Just wanted to say that in my experience this type of thing hasn't caused trouble. I wouldn't worry about it.

I agree with above guest. It'll be fine as a middle name, yes people will know it's from Harry Potter, and I don't think they'll have a negative reaction.

I have not read the Harry Potter series.. I find it a silly frivolous name. I guess the best thing about it is that he may read the books with her. And she will grow to love reading and probably it will be such a nice connection that she will love the name.

I love Hermione. I think of Greek mythology and Shakespeare before Harry Potter. Even then, it's a good association. Not sure why it would be a negative.
