Cavill vs. Cavell

Which spelling for a boy name do you prefer? I always liked Cavill, but then saw Cavell used on this site and I thought that it might be the right spelling. Thanks!

I guess Cavill. I am not a fan of it as a first name. It is a nickname given to a bald person.

Neither of them are established names with meanings or origin. Cavill is a surname though so I would go for that. I think it looks cleaner too. Good luck!

How are you pronouncing it, in terms of where the emphasised syllable is? I feel like Cavill will nearly always be pronounced CAV-ill, whereas Cavell might sometimes be said CAV-ell, and other times ca-VELL

Also, meant to mention. I don't think that its important for a name to have 'established meaning and origin'

I didn't say that's important. But the poster said they didn't know if it was the "right spelling" and I said neither of them are right or wrong as there's no established meaning or origin
