Luz vs. Lux
We want our daughter to have a Spanish name that is pronounceable in an English speaking country. We love Luz (meaning light) but when said out loud, we dont want people to associate it with lose (as in losing). So, is Lux (also meaning light) a better option? We also thought of Lucia (loo-see-uh) with the nickname Luz/Lux.

Lucia is prettier. To non-Spanish speaking people, the beautiful meaning of Luz and Lux will be lost. They will only hear it as a rather harsh sounding name, or as the trendy name Luxe.

We definitely see the benefit of using Lucia "Lux", we are just torn because we don't love Lucia as much. It is a very popular Spanish name and my husband and I know lots of Lucia's from our childhood. Dang, we might have to scratch Luz/Lux :(.

What about Luciana if you don't like Lucia?
Lucia is a great name, but if you aren't in love, then you should move on.
