Alistair is how most people will spell it, if you live in the US. Spelling it this way will make it easier for him. If you're in the UK, though, maybe Alasdair because people will recognize it.

Alasdair gmv. So soft and lovely.

I agree that Alistair -- just as wonderful -- is the easiest if you live in the U.S. Alastair is distracting. Visions of staircases run through my mind as my brain wants it to be "a stair." Weird, I know. But the other two options don't do that to me. Good luck! :0)
