Molly gmv. Such a darling name. Yes it might be the traditional spelling, but it's the most common and she won't have to spell it for everyone (or for those that misspell it).

As an Abbie who everyone expects to be an Abby, go with Molly. It's super annoying to have a name that everyone THINKS they know how to spell, so they spell it wrong!

I voted for Molly because there wouldn't be any spelling issues with it, since that is how it is most commonly spelled. I also wouldn't say that one spelling looks more current over the other, but that could be because my great-grandmother's name was spelled Mollie.
