Emerson vs. Emersen vs. Emersyn
Hi have a two week old baby girl named Emerson nn Emmie. I love the name and thought dh did too... he doesnt. We thought about changing it but I love it so much that he has decided to let me keep it. He wants to change the spelling though. It is spelled with the son ending but he would like to change it to an sen or syn spelling to make it more "feminine." I like the son spelling best. What do you think which spelling is best for a little girl? And yes I am fully aware that it is going to be a pain to change it Dh doesnt care... Change it or leave it?

I prefer sticking to the most commom ways of spelling a name. It will make things so much easier when she grows up. My name is spelled differently and I have had to spell my name out to people so often I do it automatically now, and I have had it spelled incorrectly on so many forms, documents, invitations, etc. Also changing Emerson to Emersyn will change the pronouncation. If you will pronounce it Em-er-sin, that change would work, but if you still want to pronounce it Em-er-son I would just stick with that spelling.

well normally i would say leave it as is but in this case your husband as already compremised by letting you keep the name in general the least you could do is chande the spelling for him Emersyn is my pick

I like the spelling Emerson best personally but if it’s that important to your husband then compromise and go with Emersyn.

If its absolutely necessary then Emersyn...adding another m kind of makes it look more feminine as well...Emmersyn.
