I can’t decide between these three first names for a boy. I like all three, but I was thinking Orion more for a middle name.

Me and my husband have been struggling with picking a name for our daughter. We finally agreed on the Name Kairi, pronounced Kai(or ky)Ree. He likes it cause its from the kingdom hearts games, and I like it because its the first name he has suggested that I actually like the sound of. Buuut I don’t like the spelling of the name, mostly the "I" at the end. I was thinking I could do an "ie" at the end but wasn’t sure if that looked okay. I like the Kai spelling the best though, but i’m open for any suggestions on variant spelling I didn’t included in the poll. Thanks all! =]

Does a hyphenated surname still imply your parents have separated and you have both of their surnames? I have a hyphenated surname, inherited from my dad (who also has the same exact hyphenated surname from his parents), and people always assumed I had both my parents surnames, and that they had split up. I wouldn’t want my daughter/son to always be explaining that their surname was inherited as a hyphenated surname, and that it is not because his/her parents were split so he ended up with both their surnames. However, would it be okay to split my hyphenated surname, take one name, and give it to my child? E.g. my paternal line have the surname Cohen-James. I would just name my child after Cohen, so people don’t assume that James is from my wife etc.
