Julia Mary and Janet Frances are our mothers’ names. Can you help us come up with a name for our daughter that is inspired by both their names? Thanks!!

So my husband and I love the name Ruthie with the pet name Rue. But I’m not sure how I feel about Ruth. It seems weird to just name her Ruthie since it’s a nickname - I don’t want everyone assuming for her whole life her official name is Ruth. That seems like it’d be annoying. But maybe it’d be just as annoying to have to say your name is Ruth when no one ever calls you that. I just don’t know - what are your thoughts?

So we are deciding to just pick one name and use it whether our Baby is a boy or girl. I really don’t care your opinions of using unisex names, my name is Cameron and I’m a girl, I’m asking which name sounds best/wont raise eyebrows. We have one daughter named Harper Shiloh And for the middle name Ray/Rae, we would switch the spelling based on the sex, just because the spelling seems gender specific to us. Feel free to mix and match! Thanks!

We love the name Betsy and are thinking of calling our baby girl it. What are your honest opinions of the name? Her middle name is going to be Louise after both of our mums

I posted yesterday and got some helpful feedback, but I want to hear more opinions. I am torn between 4 names, are extremely similar so there isn’t really room for "oh we will save it for a future baby." Background-the name meanings are sentimental to us, as this is our second pregnancy, as we lost our first one at about 13 weeks. We have Evanna (ee-vah-na) which means "God is gracious" Eliana (ellie-aw-na) which means "my God has answered" Elianne (ellie-in) which has the same meaning as Eliana, and is a family name and finally Elena (ellen-ah) which means "bright shining light" Our only downfall is as thrilled as we are about having this baby after what happened. I read somewhere that a baby after the loss of a previous pregnancy is called a rainbow baby, is it inappropriate to name her in celebration of being a rainbow baby?? we are planning on having more children after as well.

Just a curiosity of mine. This is sparked by both working on a maternity floor, this website, and expecting myself. WHY do people get so opinionated when it comes to names! I have read numerous polls here where people are saying "oh here are our choices, which is you favorite" and in the comments they are just ripped to pieces on their choices. Your names are trashy, that sounds like this, that is a boy name, that is a girl name, I hate this name.....why? really? who cares? I have seen my fair share of names that I do not like on newborns and I don’t judge or hate on the parents, because I am sure my picks are hated or disliked by others as well! If everyone felt the same way about a name we would all have the same name! Why do you think people get so nit picky about OTHER people’s name choices? I am naming my baby Violet, not because I think its cute or trendy or different, because I am naming her after a very very important person in my life. When people make comments to me about not liking the choice, it upsets me because it has a lot of value to me. So, I want to hear from al of you and what you think :)

I have always loved Ashley for a boy since I saw Gone With the Wind. I know it is mostly used in girls but I would like to know your thoughts on it for a boy. Please be honest I want to know if I should go with it or scrap it. Thank you

Hi! I’m expecting a baby girl in about 4 more weeks and haven’t decided on a name quite yet. My list is still a bit long and would love you to tell me your favorite 3 and your least favorite 3. You don’t need to tell me why but feedback would be great. Thank you so much! My list will be in the first comment.

Expecting third and final child, a girl! Older bro and sis are Don Leo and Arya Phoenix. For this little lady we are majorly considering Betty, Leia, Viva, Celia, Lucy/Lucille, Eve, Vela, Genie, and Maria. Any and all commentary welcome. Thanks! Leo, Annie, Donnie, Arya, and Princess # 2
